There aren’t many affordable rear-drive sports coupes on the market so the 2022 Toyota GR 86 is a gift to enthusiasts. Generation two gets what the faithful asked for- added power, a more usable torque curve, improved manual shift action and a stiffened body structure. The 2-liter 4-cylinder boxer engine grows to 2.4-liters. The cabin gets spruced up too. Tom Voelk travels to the Monticello Motor Club in New York to check out the GR 86 on the track and the surrounding roads. Tom attended a manufacturer’s event for this review.
